Welcome to the British Obesity Surgical Centre. There are many people at risk from obesity and if you are worried about this you aren’t alone. Currently 1 in 5 of the UK population has a BMI (Body Mass Index) of over 30 and is therefore clinically obese.
Nearly two thirds of men and more than half of women in England are now overweight or obese. Being obese (overweight = BMI 25-30) is defined as someone with a Body Mass Index of 30 or more. To calculate your BMI follow the steps below

Multiply Height x Height to determine your height squared
Example 1.8m x 1.8m = 3.24
To calculate your BMI
Divide Weight by Height Squared
125 / 3.24 = BMI 38.50 (Severely Obese)
BMI 18 to 25 = Healthy Weight
BMI 25 to 30 = Overweight
BMI 30 to 35 = Obese
BMI 35 plus = Severely Obese
BMI 40 plus = Morbidly Obese
